What is happening about post office?

Dear Sir,

Could I, through your pages, enquire what, if anything, is happening regarding the closure of Congleton Town Post Office? Readers will remember it shut when the firm that accommodated it closed recently.

Post Office Counters that run our post offices stated at the time that every effort was being made to find a replacement site.

Though there are other post offices within the town boundary, none are central enough for the many people and businesses living and working in the town centre.

Also, visitors often need stamps etc and, like a public toilet, a post office is an essential part of any tourist destination.

Cheshire East has land that could host a temporary replacement pending a more permanent arrangement.
